Order for cinema reopening in Maharashtra to come in less than 24 hours. They could restart operations from Friday, November 6.
The trade analyst expresses his thoughts on the decision saying,"One doesn't know how things will pan out but the reopening of cinemas in Maharashtra augurs well for Bollywood simply because Bombay (in Maharashtra) is the nerve centre of Bollywood. A beginning had to be made. That will truly happen once cinemas in Maharashtra reopen. Cinemas in many parts of India reopened on 15th October but the joy which the trade is experiencing after the news of reopening of Maharashtra cinemas is unprecedented. I just hope, it's only an upward surge in footfalls from here on."
Komal Nahta has put weight on the fact that with the current situation, people leaving their houses not just for essentials, cinemas could be reopened with necessary measures. While it's been a hard several months for everyone and things have finally started to get normal, Nahta is concerned about the Bombay being the nerve centre of Cinema still doesn't have multiplexes operational.
