Written and directed by Roland Joffe, "Singularity" has been around at least since the late 1990s and at one time was called "The Invaders." But with Corsan producing and funding the film with a budget of about $35 million, "Singularity" is scheduled to start shooting in January 2008 in India and South Africa.
The story of the movie is set across two time periods and continents. The plot involves a British officer in colonial India who falls in love with an Indian (played by Rai), and an American marine biologist struggling to save his research partner who is trapped in the wreckage of a colonial Brit merchant ship.
