Samir Dattani is known as Dhyan in the Kannada film industry. This name was given to him by his director who introduced him in a South Indian film.

He changed his name because the director felt that Dhyan would be a better name in Kannada films. He was 18 years old and I had no idea what would be good for him.

Luckily, most of my films in Kannada completed silver jubilee and I think the name has been really lucky for me. Samir adds, "Initially, it was difficult because my fans in South India would call me Dhyan, and I would not respond to them.

It took some time for me to register that Dhyan is also my name. Now, I am very comfortable with my name and even when I sign an autograph book, I promptly sign as Dhyan".

The actor's next Hindi film is Mukhbir and co-stars Raima Sen. Mukhbir is a spy thriller about the intelligence department of our country. A Story of a boy who is working with the intelligence department and the hurdles that he has to face. He learns and grows in the process.
