Rituparno Ghosh doesn't know whether to feel elated or embarrassed. He's elated because his black-and-white marital drama Dosor has won hin rave responses at Cannes.
But he's also been embarrassed by the fact that his chair collapsed in the middle of a conference where his film was being discussed.
"It was certainly a very embarrassing moment," giggles Ritu from Cannes where he's currently to be found along with his Dosor lead Presanjeet. "My chair just came crashing down and I was on the ground stunned. Everyone laughed. Why do these things have to happen to me?"
On a more cheering note, Dosor has been noticed and is about to be picked up by various festivals across the world including the New York film festival. "I realize this one trip to Cannes with Dosor has changed the film's destiny."
Everyone from Bollywood was in Cannes.
Enthuses Ritu, "I heard Bipasha-John, Abhishek-Ash, and Preity were here. But I didn't see them. Mr Bachchan was also here for Cheeni Kum. But there were about 200 people wanting his attention at any given time.
If I can meet him in Mumbai why crowd him in Cannes? I did run into Mani Rathnam who's here with his Guru. And yes, I met Michael Moore who was here with his scathing film on American healthcare. My Dosor is a far cry from Michael Moore's film. It's the variety that makes Cannes so unique."
