Delhi Crime became the first web series from India to win an International Emmy award. The show premiered on Netflix in March 2019 and became the top-rated show on Netflix. Narrated from the perspective of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah), the series took the audience back to that horrific winter of 2012. On Monday Delhi Crime won the Drama Series award at International Emmy Awards 2020.

Delhi Crime, inspired by the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case, has competed against 'Charite 2'- Season 2 (Germany), 'Criminal UK' (United Kingdom) and 'El Jardín de Bronce' (The Bronze Garden) Season 2, from Argentina. 'Delhi-Crime' with 8.5 IMDb rating was on the top of the list and was the highest-rated show from the nominated series. We can expect that all these factors were responsible for the show getting an Emmy. Although, no show can match Delhi Crime's strong screenplay.

In the award-winning speech, Richie Mehta, the writer, and director of the show said, "I dedicate this award to all the women who not just endure the violence that so many men inflict on them, but are then tasked to solve the problem. Finally, to the tireless mother, and her daughter. Not a day goes by when I don't think about you both and what the world subjected you two to. And I hope none of us ever forget that."

On the other side, Shefali Shah who played the role of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vartika Chaturvedi took to Twitter and wrote, "OMGGGGGGGGGGGG OMGGGGGGGGGGGG OMGGGGGGGGGGGG #DelhiCrime." Check out her & other actors tweets here -

More about the Delhi Crime, the series is based on the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case that took place in the neighborhood of Munirka, in South Delhi. The series follows the story in the aftermath of the gang rape, where Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vartika Chaturvedi is tasked to find the culprits responsible for the assaults and death of the female victim. The series features Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang.
