"The very fact that I have to talk publicly about something, stops me from attending a lot of social dos. This is the reason why I don't even go for the promotion of my own movies," she says laughing, "I don't like to talk about my work. People should see my work and form their opinion based on that, not because of something I said."
And this is how she launches into a conversation... "Most of the time I don't know what is the right thing to say or do. Mostly it is false pretence. Even an appearance on Karan Johar's show was a mammoth task for me," she says. But if you really want this actress to turn into an animated child, talk to her about her work.
"I enjoy my work. And there are no two ways to that," she says smiling. So, how does she explain the long break that she has taken from work nowadays? "I am travelling, learning languages and building a house. But, trust me, nothing gives me as much satisfaction as I get from my work."
Maybe that has got to do with the fact that she didn't have to struggle in the industry? "Definitely! Even my family says that I've have got everything on a platter.
The biggest banners in the industry came to me with offers that others have had to struggle for. Then why should I crib about anything? I can't imagine any other place or profession where you get so much money, get to see a lot of foreign places, get so much recognition," she says.
But for a serious actress, she is a very chilled-out person. "I love my Ruk ruk ruk song, I got noticed because of that. It is will always be my favourite. But my career started after movies like Kala Paani and Maachis." So who is the director she loves to work with? "David Dhawan," comes the unexpected answer. "He is just too good. I love doing comedies and he is the master of the craft for me."
