Indian television is witnessing a new trend where most of the daily soaps are busy taking leaps to raise their TRPs with a view to survive in this competitive world of serials.

But, in this process, the actor is the worst hit, as most of them are not so old and the scripts require them to age by leaps, sometimes even twice or thrice their age.

In such instances, many actors have to go against their will to grow old, but Neha Mehta aka Mamta of ‘Mamta' has followed what he finds correct. She quit the show instead of agreeing to age on-screen.

"I am not comfortable with the generation leap, as I am not able to relate to the character. The new script demanded that it grew older," says Neha.

But, Narayani, who is replacing Neha and has already tried her hands on a mother's role earlier in ‘Piya Ka Ghar', seems to have no issues with aging like Neha.

"I have no problem in playing a mother, as I have already portrayed a mother in ‘Piya Ka Ghar' and I not aging too much, as I am playing a mother to some 15-year-boy. It all depends on the role and not with the age.

And now the story is more about the mother, father and child as the child is separated from his father when he was small," says Narayani.

But what does she has to say about Neha's view on aging? "I have still not had any conversation with Neha about her exit, so I have no idea why she is not happy with the role," adds Narayani.

It seems that running away would not help Neha, as almost every serial is ready to take a leap or has already taken a leap. If Ekta and saas bahu's kept rocking then surely there would be no end to the leaps and actors aging.
