The commercial Mumbai movie, barring a few stray exceptions, has been a strict no-no for Nandita Das. So she isn`t exactly losing sleep over the fact that Bollywood roles aren`t exactly pouring into her lap in the wake of the Aks and Pitaah debacles.
But the lady is a tad bemused at the no-nonsense halo that sits around her head. Mumbai`s producers and directors shy away from her for the fear of being rebuffed. "But it`s irritating as hell at times too," she says. The ill-organised Mumbai industry is always wary of actresses who have minds of their own and who are not given to tolerating unprofessionalism. But the Delhi actress has been busy doing films in regional languages — Malayalam, Bengali and Oriya. What could have motivated her to sign these films? "It `s her co-stars. Right from the beginning of her career, she has had Shabana, Jaya, Deepti and Aamir as co-stars. She is, at present shooting with Rakhee and Sharmila," divulged one of her directors.
Nandita is also slated to do a film each with Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri soon. She is also keen to share the screen with Tabu and Kajol.
