Anil Kapoor took to Twitter and said, "It has come to my attention that the trailer of my new film "AK vs AK" has offended some people. As I am wearing the Indian Air Force Uniform while using unparliamentary language, I would like to sincerely offer my humble apologies for unintentionally hurting anyone sentiments, I would like to supply some context to hopefully understand how things came to be there. My character is in the uniform because he is an actor playing the role of an officer when he finds out that his daughter has been kidnapped, the anger and rage he experiences & portrays is that of an emotional distort father. It was only in interest of remaining true to the story that my character still wearing the uniform on his quest to find his missing daughter. It was never my intent or intent of the filmmakers to disrespect the Indian Airforce. I always had the utmost respect and gratitude for the selfless service of all our defense personal and so I truly apologize for unintentionally hurting anyone's sentiments." Netflix India has also tweeted about the matter and wrote, "Hon. @IAF_MCC, our intention would never be to disrespect the Armed Forces of India in any regard. AK Vs. AK is a film in which Anil Kapoor and his co-stars are playing themselves as actors. At no point does the film represent the Indian Air Force or our Armed Forces. More about 'Ak Vs AK', it is a dark comedy film by Vikramaditya Motwane which is set to stream on Netflix. The film's plotline revolves around a director who went into a public spat with a movie star, and how after being disgraced, he retaliates by kidnapping the actor’s daughter. Sonam Kapoor will play the role of Anil's daughter in the film. The film will be released on December 24, Netflix.
