Anand L. Rai is shooting for his upcoming romantic-drama venture 'Atrangi Re' in which he has cast his favorite actor Dhanush opposite Sara Ali Khan. Apart from him, Akshay Kumar is also playing a pivotal role in the film. The director will wrap up the film till December 29 and after that Anand will work towards his next project which is a biographical drama based on the life of chess player Viswanathan Anand. Sources have confirmed the project although the maker has not announced the film title yet. The film will be produced under the banner of Sundial Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions.

Just, after the announcement, everyone started speculating the lead actor to play the chess legend. Now, it has been stated that Dhanush has been approached to portray Viswanathan Anand on screen. Although nothing has been made official on the same but still if rumors are true then it would be Dhanush's third project with Anand L. Rai.


The biographical film will be an inspiring journey of the Indian chess grandmaster and former world chess champion Viswanathan Anand known as a five-time world chess champion. More on his award list, Anand was the first recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (1991-92) which is known as India's highest sporting honor. In 2007, he was awarded India's second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, making him the first sportsperson to receive the award. Well, watching his encouraging story would be a delight experience for the audience for sure.

More about Anand L. Rai's last directorial project then he has directed Shah Rukh Khan's production house film 'Zero' which failed at the box-office. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan was seen playing the role of a person of short stature opposite Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
