Anil Kapoor is making headlines once again. Not as an actor, but as a businessman. An over-ambitious Anil, obviously shaken by last year`s box office reverses, has decided to make the most of his next release, Badhai Ho Badhai through the means of nationwide merchandising.
The star has convinced friend, co-producer and director Satish Kaushik of the viability of the move. The two have tied up with Egmont Imagination India, makers of entertainment items for children, to launch an entire range of Badhai Ho Badhai products. The products include a graphic novel, mask book, mystic pencil book and jumbo colouring books. The idea seems to be to keep the money flowing in, irrespective of the box office fate of the film.
Let`s hand it to the guy. Anil is a quick learner: he has clearly borrowed the merchandising idea from Aamir Khan. Only, he seems to have forgotten that the producer of Lagaan had waited until the film had clicked big time before unleashing a product marketing blitz.
