Q: Tell us about your entry in ‘Durgesh Nandinii'.
A: (laughs) My character's name is Priyanka and she is a very positive girl. She makes her entry into the house as Sikander's past. She actually wants justice from Sikander and wants the five years she spent on Sikander back from him, as Sikander is now getting engaged to Durgesh. The entry of my character is going to bring turmoil in their lives.
Q: So, how comfortable are you doing a serious show?
A: I have shot just for one day and I will be shooting continuously from the next week. So, I will be able to give you a better idea then. But, for whatever I have shot for, I'm extremely happy working with such a good producer and crew members. I had done a serious show earlier also.
Q: How did this offer come to you?
A: I was approached for this role and then I went there to appear for a screen and look test. Soon I was confirmed for the role.
Q: In your previous shows you have played younger characters. So how easy is it for you to play this character?
A: Yes, it is fun. I guess I'm also graduating in my roles slowly with time (laughs). A time will come when I will be playing a wife and then a mother and then a grandmother. But there is still some years left for that.
Q: Tell us about you look in the show.
A: Oh, I still maintain a modern look and not anything in a salwar or all that. I will be seen sporting short dresses, as I used to wear in the other shows. So there is not much of a difference. I'm lucky that this look of mine is maintained and liked by people. After a few years, I would definitely be seen in sarees. So I want to make full use of this time.
Q: How was it working with senior and older actors?
A: (laughs) It is fun working with then too.
Q: Why don't we see you more on television?
A: I needed a break post "Remix" because I had worked a lot for it. I needed to do nothing for some time and thus I was away from television. Actually, I could have taken a longer break too because I'm not those kind of people who say ‘Oh, I have missed one good year of stardom'.
Q: You were also a theatre artist. So is it that acting is your passion and not your profession?
A: I have done theatre recently too, but it is not that acting is not my profession. It is my full-fledged profession, but I'm not too ambitious. I like to do things as they come by and till now I'm extremely satisfied with whatever I have done.
Q: What else are you doing?
A: At present I have signed two more shows and I'm looking forward to it. In one of them I will be playing a college going girl, so you cannot say that I have stopped the trend. But the shooting has not begun and we might be going on floors within three weeks. I will be able to tell you things more clearly then. - Mili Swarnakar
