"I did not want to live after that horrific incident occurred in my life. But after I decided to work for 'Miss Anara' I got a reason to live," Anara Gupta told in an interview.
"I re-lived the whole incident while I was shooting for the film. It was horrible," said a visibly disturbed Anara. "I faced the most difficult moments while shooting the third degree torture scenes in prison. I used to faint every time we shot the scenes."
"The film has become a mission of my life. Through it I want to bring out the truth to the society," said the 21-year-old.
Anara was arrested in October 2004 on charges of working in a pornographic CD. She was given a clean chit by a court on the basis of a forensic test report, which said the person who featured in the porn film was not Anara. Three policemen were dismissed for detaining her illegally.
"Miss Anara" highlights the physical and emotional trauma she underwent.
Anara is confident about the film's success and maintains it is not an effort to cash in on the controversy.
"I am not trying to cash in on the controversy. I had the chance to do so three years ago. Though the court gave me a clean chit but a number of people still think otherwise. My film tells the truth and I am sure people will come to see it," said Anara.
The actress believes the film will also help in changing her image.
"Till date I am famous because I was infamous. But after the release of the film I will get positive fame, as the mindset of people will change when they see it."
Anara is happy over the way the film has shaped up.
Acting, she says, is just a hobby and not a career option for her. She said she is pursuing a law degree through correspondence in order to get to know the law of the country. However, she did not name the institute.
"I am not considering any films now and will wait to see how people react to my debut film. I want to study as I belong to a highly educated family."
"I started pursuing law because when I was pushed behind the bars I did not even know my rights. I became a puppet in their hands. It was then that I realised its importance. In fact I want every girl to know her rights."
