Tragedy King Dilip Kumar passed away at the age of 98 due to prolonged illness. Dr. Jalil Parkar, the pulmonologist who was treating the actor at Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital confirmed the news. Reportedly, on June 29, the actor was admitted to the hospital following complaints of breathlessness. Dilip Kumar's family friend Faisal Farooqui shared the news of the actor's demise on social media and wrote, "a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return."

Along with him, the entire Bollywood is pouring condolences on the sudden demise of the legendary actor. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "An institution has gone .. whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written , it shall always be 'before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar' .. My duas for peace of his soul and the strength to the family to bear this loss .. Deeply saddened."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his grief on Twitter that reads, "Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP."







Mohammed Yusuf Khan, known professionally and popularly as Dilip Kumar, was best known for his work in Hindi cinema. Later referred to as The First Khan, he has been credited for bringing a distinct form of method acting technique to the cinema. Kumar holds the record for most wins for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and was also the inaugural recipient of the award. Kumar is widely considered one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema. He holds the Guinness World Record for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor.
