/> Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha gave birth to her eagerly awaited twins, a boy and a girl, at the University College Hospital in London.

The director and her husband Paul Berges had been looking forward to the birth of their babies for eight months.

Gurinder who had been spending time at home prepping her next project had also taken up painting during her maternity period. She has been proved right by prophesying, "I expect them to show up before the due date in July. Twins are always born prematurely."

Resting in her home now Gurinder says, "My husband Paul and I are delirious with happiness. The twins are utterly gorgeous. And they're doing great...and yes they will certainly not be named Abhishek and Aishwarya. That was a joke."
