Aamir Khan is known to interfere with the work of most of his directors. But we don`t think his directors mind that too much, because Aamir`s interference is generally for the better. Anil Kapoor, however, isn`t known to be much of a thinker. But man, even he likes to intrude as and when he can, and not necessarily for the better if Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja is any thing to go by.
Anil`s latest film is Badhai Ho Badhai directed by Satish Kaushik and, if whispers can be trusted, the film has not shaped up too well. Kaushik has a flair for comedy, but Anil appears to have done a fair deal of ghost direction in the film. Do this, do that, change this, change that: all of that, diplomatically phrased, has led to a pretty loose film which Kaushik may not be too proud of. But then, like many other directors, he had to bow to the suggestions and incorporate them in the film.
Typically Bollywood funda, this one indeed is. Possibly, that explains why younger stars can be seen telling the director what to do on the sets of films they work for. They may not have arrived, but so what? For inspiration, they have senior mischief-makers who are every thing but professional and do things just to assert their status. For, what they seem to forget is not every director is a Charlie Chaplin or a Woody Allen. If those comparisons are remote, let`s say that not everybody is an Aamir Khan. Back to Anil. If the changes that he has suggested work at the box office, he will be cheered because he is the hero. But if not, it is Kaushik who will be crucified.
