"I always knew cricket to be a religion in our country. But I never went into that particular place of worship...not since I was a child. But now for this film I had to brush up the game, become quite a player since I play the captain of the cricket team."
Rahul says the film has taken him back to his childhood. "That feeling of being up at 7 a.m for cricket practice came back to me, because I had to coach with (Mumbai captain) Amol Mazumdar's father Anil Mazumdar for three months."
And now Rahul thinks he's a fine player. "I used to be fielder as a child. Today I wouldn't mind batting for the Indian team. The sound of the bat hitting the ball is the best music I've heard in recent times."
Chances of love life in Rahul's life have receded further. "Are you crazy? After I'm done with acting, rugby and now cricket who has the energy for a woman?"
