Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan sympathises with jailed socialite Paris Hilton, but insists she will become a stronger person after her time behind bars.

Salman claims to have served several stints in jail for offences including killing protected wild animals and crashing his car in 2002, killing one man and injuring others - but believes the solitude in jail helped calm his wild ways and hopes the same happens for Hilton.

Salman says, "When you are in there, there is no one more important than you. You have to handle being alone. You have to love yourself. Everybody should get this time to be alone.

"It will make her a stronger person."

The hotel heiress entered the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on June 3 after she was found guilty of violating her probation from a drink driving arrest last year.
