Not only does she want to become an accomplished classical singer she also hopes to improve her much-criticized dialogue delivery.
"I wake up religiously at 4 in the morning to get ready for my riyaaz. My guru is Amitabh Chakraborty. He arrives on the dot at 5 in the morning. And we start practicing and go on for a good two hours before I leave for shooting."
Apparently Kangana's neighbours in her building were initially wary of the alaap-top sounds emanating from the Ranauts' residence. But now they've gotten used to it.
Kangana hopes to not only master the ragas, she's also confident the classical singing will help open up her throat and improve her voice quality.
"I'm sick and tired of people complaining about my dialogue delivery. I didn't want to just take diction and voice classes. That's why I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
I'm grateful my Guruji agreed to teach me at this age. He says one learn classical singing either before 13 or after 40. I don't fit into either category. But stubborn as ever, I insisted. And now Guruji is very happy with my progress."
Such is her mastery over the riyaaz and ragas that Kangana hopes to cut an album some day. "And that's not all. Next I plan to learn to play the guitar. Maybe Saif and I can perform at a concert together."
