Raj Babbar's pretty daughter Juhi is ready to tie the know. Yesterday (26 June) was the engagement.
"I met Bejoy Nambiar 2 ½ years ago for the short-film Reflections that he directed with me and Mohanlal Sir in the lead. Then Mani Rathnam saw the short film and asked Bejoy to assist On Guru " Juhi chirps happily."Things just fell into place and ...here we are."
The bride-to-be is ecstatic. "My in-laws are very strict Malayalis. Though Bejoy is in the movies, the rest of his family are in the business of textile exporters."
The alliance took so long to solidify because of the groom's conservative family. "My father-in-law is the head of the Nair community in Mumbai. So he was answerable to a long list of people about a Punjabi bahu."
The wedding will take place on 27 June in Mumbai. " We're having both a Malyali and Punjabi ceremonies. Papa was fine with just a Malyali ceremony. But my in-laws insisted on both. So we're having a multi-cultural wedding."
The affable Juhi has won over her in-laws completely. And now she's looking forward to a grand wedding. "We can't have just twenty people over. You know the kind of person my father is? Even if he remembers a spotboy from some old film he'd call him. My father is very very particular about upholding relationships."
Just before rushing off Juhi screamed, "Today is the engagement, tomorrow the mehndi, day after is the wedding.. Then on the 29th I leave for Kerala for the reception at Bejoy's resort. I couldn't be happier."
