Anurag Basu had first met his wife Tani while he was working in a documentary film in Guwahati a few years back. At that time, Tani was Anurag's boss. Believe it or not, but this love story started on a dinner table of a five-star restaurant.
At an official dinner, the table was laid with foods with a lot of foreign delegates around. Anurag happens to be a die-hard Bengali and could not resist the fishes which were served, but was in a fix as how to eat them since everyone was religiously using knife and fork.
This was the time when he noticed Tani who brave-heartedly made full use of her typical Bengali style of relishing those dishes with her hand!
"It was an act of bravery considering that they were surrounded by an elite crowd," recalls Anurag. Grabbing the opportunity, Anurag slipped beside her and started eating with his hand.
Cupid struck and just three days later Anurag kissed his lady love! After that it was a roller coaster ride for them as their parents were not in favour of the relationship.
But Anurag is all praises for hi wife Tani and says, "Tani was the protector of our relationship. It was her patience and open-mindedness, which strengthened the relationship.
She is the only woman, who has been able to understand and handle me. Had it not been for her the relationship would not have blossomed and we would have not ended up getting married".
And guess, what the terrace scene of 'Murder' was inspired from his real life story! Ahem! We are only waiting to know which of his other films have been inspired by his real life story.
