Several film personalities are known to have bought farmland in many states, except Maharashtra, which does not allow non-farmers to purchase it.
"The land measuring over three bighas (over 8,000 square metres) in Ranipura village in Bundi district has been registered in the name of Ravi Kapoor alias Jitendra, his wife Shobha Kapoor, son Tusshar Kapoor and daughter Ekta Kapoor," Ramesh Somani, a government official told.
The deal was registered in April 2006 and the land was bought from a farmer, Chhotulal Khati.
Though Somani did not disclose the amount of the deal, well-informed sources said the land was sold at a total cost of Rs.134,000 and Shobha Kapoor had travelled to the area to complete the formalities.
After purchasing the land, the Kapoor family entrusted the responsibility of its maintenance to Chotulal on a yearly fee of Rs.10,000, sources said.
