Detailed Account of the Incident
According to the chargesheet filed by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch and accessed by India Today TV, shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who are currently in judicial custody, spoke to Lawrence Bishnoi via the Signal app. This conversation took place mere hours before the shooting incident.
The Night of the Incident
On the early morning of April 14, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal fired five rounds outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra. The chargesheet reveals that before this, Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence's brother, arranged for Vicky and Sagar to speak with Lawrence Bishnoi to "motivate" them. Lawrence, who is currently in Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad, assured the shooters by saying, "Your work will be good, don't worry, and get ready for the firing."
Motivational Messages
Anmol Bishnoi also sent a recorded message encouraging the shooters, stating that their actions would benefit society. This added fuel to the shooters' determination. Vicky Gupta's confession to the police disclosed that Sagar Pal was so motivated that he was prepared to "shoot anyone who obstructed" their mission.
Background of the Shooters
Both Vicky and Sagar hail from the same village. During the 2020 lockdown, Vicky often met Sagar while craving cigarettes. By Diwali 2022, their interactions became frequent, and Sagar revealed his connections with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang through a friend named Ankit.
Sagar, who worked in a spare parts company in Jalandhar, financially helped Vicky in early 2023 when he was jobless. In July 2023, seeking a driver's job, Vicky visited Sagar in Jalandhar and met Ankit. Vicky then traveled to Chennai before returning to his village. A month later, Sagar called him back to Jalandhar, saying he had found work for him.
The Plan to Target Salman Khan
Upon reaching Jalandhar, Sagar informed Vicky that he was in contact with Anmol Bishnoi via Signal and disclosed the plan to target Salman Khan. Sagar mentioned that Anmol wanted to scare the actor.
In October 2023, Anmol sent Sagar and Vicky to Ambala to collect money for the job. Afterward, they traveled to Mumbai to find rented accommodation in Panvel. Failing to secure a place, they returned but were later sent back in March 2024 with assistance to carry out the attack.
Salman Khan's Statement
Earlier this month, Salman Khan informed the police that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang carried out the firing at his residence with the intent to kill him and his family members. This statement is part of the chargesheet filed by Mumbai Police in a Mumbai court.
Salman Khan's statement reads, "So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping and (they were) planning to kill me and my family members."
Arrests and Custody
The individuals arrested in connection with the case are Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh. Anujkumar Thapan allegedly committed suicide in police custody after his arrest. The remaining five are currently in judicial custody.
Conclusion
The chilling details of the firing incident outside Salman Khan's residence underscore the serious threats faced by the actor and his family. The involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the elaborate planning behind the attack highlight the dangerous criminal network operating behind the scenes.
