Rang De Basanti director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra turned 44 on 9th July with a quiet surprise bash organized by, Aamir Khan and wife Kiran threw a bash for friend and Aamir Khan and wife Kiran painstakingly organised a surprise party for the director keeping it low key (Aamir style) and totally a friends only affair. Also seen at the party were director Kunal Kohli and adman Prasoon Joshi.

Kunal Kohli confirmed, "It was a very small affair and a private one at that so we should let it remain that way. Moreover it was a last-minute thing. Mehra is not really into parties or celebrating birthdays. It was more like a small gathering of close friends."

When contacted Mehra likes to keep the memories of this birthday as a personal affair! The most exciting gift he received this time for his birthday though was a birthday card made by his daughter.he was also very touched when his office team got him a cake in the afternoon.

Happy about catching up with his friends on this occasion, he admits that they justy need a bahana to meet up.

The friends relished some homemade khana and chatted away till early morning.
