Shyam Benegal is the sort of director who is not far from being called an artist if not seen as already one. Not only are his films artistic but also amazingly true to life all through his four decades old career. Taking that into consideration his next film is sure to be a pleasant and refreshing surprise for all. His next project, a spy thriller, readies us to see him in an international domain with an international cast.

"The script is being worked out by Lord Meghnad Desai and his wife Keshwar, but it is too early to spell out more details on this international project," says Shyaam Benegal.

After the script is ready, Benegal will tie up with some big foreign company and select the star cast. The film is about a young Indian girl who becomes a British spy against Germany during World War II.

The actors for the film have not been disclosed yet and all the plans for the film are strictly secret. Its hinted that there would be Indian and foreign artistes.

Also in Benegal's Kitty are a musical for which the script is ready. But that will come up only after he finishes his new project with the working title Mahadev.
