NRI businessman Raj Kundra, whose ex-wife Kavita has accused Shilpa Shetty of breaking their marriage, apologised to the actress and her family for causing damage to their reputation because of his dispute with Kavita.

Raj finally stood up for his "good friend' Shilpa saying: "I regret that my personal situation has led my ex-wife to attempt to damage the reputation of a highly acclaimed celebrity. I would simply like to take this opportunity to apologise to Shilpa Shetty and her family for my ex wife's shocking allegations."

At the same time, Raj levelled counter accusations on Kavita for misstating facts. He pointed out that he had not met Shilpa before his divorce and when he did meet the actress, it was through her manager Farhath Hussain with a proposal to launch a perfume.

He alleged that Kavita does not allow him to meet their child and that she has made several foreign trips despite claiming that she has been confined to her home. The businessman added: "Never in the past nine months did Kavita discuss a reunion, and on the contrary, she stated she was enjoying her life with her family."

Finally, Raj requested the media not to publicise anybody's claims without verifying facts.
