The actor, having graduated to doing meaningful films, wants to become a director some day and is fast learning the ropes. The Legend of Bhagat Singh, which is directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, is a documentation of the martyr`s life and the actor wanted to be close to the man as much as he could in portraying the lead. Devgan and Santoshi thus decided to have their entire cast comprising actors from the theatre. "Their performances are awe inspiring, they taught me so much, " is what the actor had to say about his costars.

Heaps of praise coiming from a senior like him only gave a boost to their morale and helped them perform confidently."It was Ajay`s support and undivided attention to minutest details about our welfare that kept newcomers like us going," they all said in unison.
