The sleepy hilly township of Bhalukpong in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh was buoyed by Bollywood Beauty Priyanka Chopra, who was on her way to Tenga Army brigade headquarters yesterday for shooting a special NDTV sponsored episode for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Though her fans wanted to have a glimpse of her, the security personnel kept the crazy onlookers away.

It may be recalled here that the famous Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit were the first to shoot ‘Koila' in September- October in 1996 in the snow-clad mountains and lakes of Tawang, known as last Sangri-La (paradise on earth), located 10,200 feet above the sea level.

A lake, locally called Sengitsor, situated above 14,000 feet above the sea level, is called as Madhuri Lake albeit to the displeasure of the local Monpa tribe, who zealously protect their age-old cultures and traditions.

Known as a wonderland, Arunachal Pradesh is a nature's heaven with snowcapped mountains, majestic jungles, roaring streams, singing birds, multi-coloured butterflies, lush green vegetation inhabited by colourful tribal people with their unique cultural heritage.

This Himalayan state offers vast scope for outdoor shooting of films and many producers and directors have been evincing keen interest in the Bhalukpong-Tawang sector that included 400-year-old Tawang Monastery of Lord Buddha.
