With its idyllic beaches, lush fields, coconut plantations and villages dotted with pretty whitewashed churches and grand mansions, Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

The Hindu temples around Ponda and the magnificent cathedral of old Goa are added attractions. Chhavi Hussein talks about her tryst with this paradise.

On any given day, I am ready to head for Goa. It's an ideal place to unwind and relax, both body and soul. Whenever I go to Goa, my life becomes peaceful, especially when compared to the fast-paced Mumbai where even if you are not working there are phone calls, noisy vehicles and the general chaos of city life.

In Goa, all you need to do to de-stress is sit on the shore watching the waves swaying back and forth, listening to the soothing murmur of the sea.

It was while shooting that I discovered Goa and ever since, I have fallen in love with this wonderful place.

Mostly, I go to south Goa, about 42 kms from Margoa is Palolem beach. This beach is quite tranquil compared to the beaches of north Goa. Even the sea is calm, the waters are shallow and waves not that huge. It gives you the feel of a gigantic swimming pool!

If you are a gastronome, you must hit Bob's Inn to munch on some authentic Goan cuisine. They serve amazing coastal food, the crabs and the sea platter is yummy.

South Goa doesn't provide too many shopping options, unlike north Goa which has a reasonable number of showrooms. There is a nice designer swimwear shop though. I make it a point to pick up some stuff from there.

I am not much of an accessory person, so I don't shop for junk in Goa, even though the lovely accessory shops on the streetside are quite inviting. But here you must bargain hard if you want get your money's worth.

As for accommodation, I usually put up at Chaddai resort. The service is pretty good and the location is the main attraction.

Sweet memories are aplenty when I think of Goa. The one which I can never forget is my first meeting with my husband Mohit. It is where we fell in love with each other.

I always recommend this place to all my near and dear ones because it's an amazing place to be in. And if you love beaches you just can't miss Goa.

One important suggestion to all those planning a trip to Goa. Please go with a free mind, to relax in the lap of nature. Don't expect luxury as that would be too much to ask of the laidback local populace there.

The air conditioner of your room might not be in a very good condition, a few places can be a bit a squalid, and there are places where you might have to make do with a common loo. So don't bother about petty things.

Just go there, enjoy the water sports and experience nature at its best to rejuvenate your body and mind. Let that child in you resurface, try out some naughty pranks and enjoy the small joys of life. -Jayant Mishra
