"Until the last minute I didn't think the release would be stalled. I'm very very angry that such a thing happened. We worked very hard to get into this July 27 slot. And now I'm very very upset because I'll have to come next week with Gandhi. I never wanted that. That's the kind of film I'd like to support, not compete with."
Anubhav says he had deliberately exercized the option of coming in the last week of July for one reason only. "I think Anil Kapoor's film looks so sensitive and deep. I don't want to cut into his audience at all. In fact I'd buy a tricket and see Gandhi My Father instead of my own Cash on the first day, first show."
Tell him that the audience for Cash is very different from the one for Gandhi My Father, and Anubhav disagrees vigorously. "No, at the end of the day the public's buying capacity is equally challenged by any two films that are released on the same day."
Anubhav is mad as hell about the producers' wrangle that stalled the release of Cash by a week. "With everyone taking sides and having a point of view, it all became very messy. I just hope people realize how much losses one has to suffer when a film is delayed after the release is announced."
