He got his first break in the Ram Gopal Verma's Company. The film's success led onto Vivek becoming a superstar overnight. Later he starred in action flicks Dum and Road. Vivek's roles speak of variety, his originality and own way of working. He follows his heart in whatever he does.
'I have been told I am a quiet rebel, I do have rebellion streak. I tend to do things my way. I just believe do what your heart says. Follow your heart. Don't do what everybody is doing. We are here to find our own path, our own tendency and the best way is to follow your own heart, and there is no other way,' the actor said.
Vivek's portrayal of the gangster Kesu Firangi in Omkara gave a new turn to his career after the down he saw when his relationship with Aishwarys Rai went awry. However, Vivek still wants to be associated with love stories, if not in real then in reel life.
'I have done romantic roles. I did Saathiya, which was big success, and I have been accepted in love stories, comic films and stuff like that. But as an actor we always look for a different challenge.
Right now I am very excited about doing a love story. I am waiting for a really good script. I am feeling like doing a nice, romantic love story but if a good script comes my way.'
Vivek is now waiting for its next film Mission Istanbul directed by Apoorva Lakia which is having a big star cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol and Tusshar Kapoor.
