While in jail in Pune, Sanjay Dutt discovered the virtues of the ancient art of letter-writing. If nothing else the intermittent and
unbearably painful periods of incarceration have made him into an able and expressive writer.
Says one of the now-free-on-bail hero's closest buddies, "In jail the easiest and most reliable means of communication is the Indian
postal service. Some of us who are his close friends who wanted him to know we're with him during his solitude, sent letters by Speed
Post which were duly and prompted delivered to him."
Though censored and then delivered to the star-inmate in Pune jail, these letters from close friends were the the only source of
succour for Sanjay in jail and have made him a firm believer in the old and reliable system of communication through
epistles.
Now out an an interim bail Sanjay is a very disturbed man.
"The uncertainty of his future has become a very big problem for Sanjay. He's at the moment not enjoying his temporary freedom. 'I'm
neither free nor imprisoned. Where do I go from here?'
Sanju says. All the time the thought of returning to jail hangs on him
like a sword. And he'd rather be free once and for all then taste freedom for a bit and then be put back into jail," says his close friend.
Now out, the future of Dutt starrers do not seem as jeopardized as it would outwardly appear. Ashok Thakaria-Indra Kumar's comedy
Dhamaal is Dutt-dubbed and ready for release.
As for the much talked-about Alibaug which friend Sanay Gupta is directing, Dutt (whp plays a role inspired by Gupta) has already
shot a large number of talkie scenes for the film.
"And since Alibaug has sync-sound Sanju won't be required for dubbing. So a large portion of his shooting is over. Gupta now goes to
Goa in early September with the entire cast to shoot another long schedule of Alibaug," informs a source.
The producer-director also plans to direct another hard-hitting film based a totally original idea.
