Ratings: ***
Director Manish Tiwari's "Dil Dosti Etc" has as its backdrop campus life. He has roped in the Agnee band to compose the soundtrack, a move which turns out to be pretty good considering that the film isn't really a big banner one.
Composed with a college setting in mind is "Dam laga" that has Hamza, Sidharth Suhas and Suraj Jagan doing the vocals. The song might find fans among students as far as the lyrics go, but the music is so-so.
Prashant Pandey and Ram Goutam have penned the lyrics with the assistance of Sidharth Suhas, who has also composed the music for this track.
In "Lamha yeh jayega kahan", K. Mohan does justice to the track composed by Agnee and written by Prashant Pandey. A slightly moving number that one would like to listen to while sitting back and chilling out.
"Man moniye" is a bhangra track that will make you shake a leg or two. Labh Janjua, the guy behind "Rabba khair kare" from "Hattrick", croons the lyrics. Mona joins him in the track to render English lyrics and adds on to the fun and peppiness. Another fantastic track for the audiences to groove to!
A mujra comes next. Aarti Ankalikar renders "More baanke chhaliya", a typical mujra number with all the classical elements intact. But the point is that such a track would not find fans because it may not do that well as an audio piece.
"Sambhalo dil ko" turns out to be an extremely peppy and perky number. Sunidhi Chauhan does a fabulous job with the vocals here. The song can be put in the hopeful category of raking in moolah, but who knows!
Directed by Prakash Jha, "Dil Dosti Etc" is an album to look forward to. It comprises diverse tracks that cover different genres making it an album to recommend.
