Recently, Manisha was to shoot with southern superstar Rajnikant in Chennai. As luck would have it, she decided to change her timetable and arrive for the shoot three days later then the scheduled date.

Little did she know that her postponement would foil a major kidnapping plan. The gangster who was to hold her for ransom was intercepted and shot down at Anna Salai by the Chennai police. He was reportedly in allegiance with a top underworld don of Mumbai and had flown down to Chennai to kidnap the actress. Manisha Koirala now has a 24 hour protection from the police force.
