Nazneen Patel is very excited about her latest show, 'Main Aisi Kyun Hoon', where she plays the role of a
Maharashtrian journalist, Sanjana. Last seen in 'Bhabhi', Nazneen cannot stop talking about her show.
Tell us about your role in the show?
I am portraying a girl named Sanjana, who is very positive. She is a columnist with a newspaper and tackles all
her problems without sulking and sobbing in the show. She has personal problems as well, but she keeps
them to herself.
How was your experience playing a journalist?
It was good fun. I experienced what a journalist goes through, how they all work under pressure and meet
deadlines. However, I am just a columnist and I work from the heart.
What kind of homework you did for this role?
I put my whole and soul into portraying this character. I am extremely happy with the character and it was fun.
I understood the concept clearly, and an actor is really an actor if he does whatever he is asked to, to the best
of his ability. I have done the same thing.
How did you bag this role?
I got a call from the production house when I was on a break. I did not want to take up a new project, but I
thought there was no harm in auditioning. I did not expect to get this role because I am associated with
negative characters.
What makes 'Main Aisi Kyun Hoon' different from other serials?
This show can be a trendsetter. Most serials these days have women who cry all the time, to gain sympathy.
In my serial, I do not cry. I may be a positive character, but I do not sit and sulk if things go wrong.
Does this character resemble you personally?
Actually, Sanjana and I are very alike. When I cannot express something, I take a pen and paper, and scribble
it down. Sanjana does the same thing. I also have a positive outlook towards life, and so does Sanjana. I feel
like I am playing myself in this serial.
How would you describe Paresh Rawal as a producer?
Pareshji is a very down to earth person, and I loved working with him. The first time I met him, we were at a
press conference in Delhi. The reporters were asking me questions that I could answer, and he came to my
rescue.
I had gone blank, and I was so relieved when he jumped in. He made me feel like a part of his
family, and I would love to work with him in more projects, if he wants me to.
