Unlike other newcomers who debut as action or dance heroes, Abhay Deol made his first Bollywood appearance in Imtiaz Ali's first film "Socha Na Tha" as the
boy-next-door.
Then he continued with first time directors in "Ahista Ahista", "Honeymoon Travels Privated Limited" and "Ek Chalis Ki Last Local". But the actor is
disappointed that not all in the industry are ready to take risks the way he does.
His latest release "Manorama Six Feet Under" by debutant director Navdeep Singh has been released with just 50-55 prints.
The actor feels Shemaroo took a back
seat when it came to packaging and marketing the film properly. Despite being a film with an off-track storyline it was released in the typical way --- with the music release
coming first.
Guess the producers are not much bothered about the box-office results of the movie. After all, they have the DVD and satellite rights to fall back upon to make some
nominal profit. Time Abhay chooses his films with care and works with like-minded people.
