Bollywood's musical trio Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy took Mumbai city by storm last night when they performed live at the Andheri Sports Complex as part of the western India leg of the ''McDowell's No 1 Cheers'' India
Tour.
The tour coincides with the celebration of the brand's impressive growth of 43 per cent in 2006-07 with sales crossing nine million.
Speaking to thousands of fans assembled at the Andheri Sports Complex Shankar Mahadevan said, ''I am happy to see so many of you here despite the T20 match and the Dussehra festival. Mumbai, you rock.''
The trio started with numbers from their latest film ''Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'' and followed it up by songs from the multi-starrer ''Salaam-E-Ishq'', ''Kal Ho Na Ho'', their latest blockbuster ''Heyy Baby'', Farhan
Akhtar's ''Don'' and ''Dil Chahta Hai'', and ''Mitwa'' from ''KANK'', as well as a 'Jugalbandi' with fellow artists.
They had the audience enthralled for two continuous hours.
Speaking to reporters here, United Spirits COO Ashok Capoor said, ''Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy have taken Hindi music to a new high with tunes that tug at every Indian's heartstrings and yet retain the freshness of their
music with each passing composition.
It is this ability to rediscover themselves that vibed with McDowell's success in keeping the audience engaged year after year and outpace competition.'' The concert will
be an integral part of the brand's future consumer engagement strategy with a much bigger footprint across 20 cities in 2008.
