Anuj Saxena of Maverick Productions saw something in him, and introduced him to the film industry. Co-incidentally, his first day was also his birthday, which may be a good sign. He is Chirag Paswan, a Bollywood debutant, and son of Ram Vilas Paswan. Here is a chat with the confident young man.

Q. Your father is in politics. How did you decide to enter the film industry?
A. It was a childhood dream. It did not happen all of a sudden. It was all planned. I wanted it to happen, and I wanted every part to fall into place. When I was a student, I knew that I would join the industry after completing my education.

Q. Did your family support your decision?
A. Hundred per cent. They have been very supportive.

Q. If you were given the role of a politician, how would you portray it?
A. I would prefer to play a character I can relate to. My dad has always been my idol, and I would love to portray a character like him.

Q. There are so many newcomers in the industry. How have you prepared yourself for the challenge to be the best and to be noticed? What will be your formula for success?
A. There is only one formula for success – if you have it in you, if you have to potential, then nothing and nobody can stop you.

Q. What are you doing to make sure you are a professional actor?
A. I am preparing for every aspect required to become a professional.

Q. Have you enrolled in acting classes yet?
A. Not yet, but I will, when I shift to Mumbai. I will attend classes to polish my skills.

Q. Who is your favourite actor, from whom you draw inspiration?
A. I am inspired by every actor who is successful. There are so many, why single out one?

Q. Who has inspired your hairstyle, Dhoni, or John Abraham?
A. (laughs) Everybody has his own look, and if you can carry off something, then it becomes your look. It is good to be inspired, but if you don't have the looks, things may become dicey.

Q. Are you insecure about the competition that you will get from all the newcomers?
A. Not at all. Only those who have no confidence are insecure. Like I said earlier, if you have it in you, then you will be successful. - Sonu Anand
