According to reports, the film opened to a 70 per cent response in Delhi and Punjab. It opened to a 50-60 per cent response in other parts of the country.
By the evening of the release day, cinema halls had 70 per cent occupancy in Mumbai. According to trade analysts, these are the symptoms of a film about to become a hit, given the consistent response it has received all over the country.
In the UK, the film has grossed £ 156,013 in its opening, and is, so far, the biggest Shahid Kapoor opener in the country.
Shahid seems to be so happy that he has taken his breakup with Kareena in his stride. Talking to a newspaper he said, "My breakup with Kareena was unexpected. We were together for four years. But that is life. All I can say is that there are no hard feelings. I respect Kareena and wish her happiness.
"Asked whether he would be prepared to act again with Kareena, in view of the resounding success that their recent film Jab We Met appears to be enjoying at the box office, Shahid was just a little circumspect.
"Why not? I hold her in high esteem as an actress. But we need the right script," he responded.
