Vinod Khanna debuted as an actor in 1968, with 'Mann Ka Meet', and was seen a few years later, in 1971, in a movie named 'Mere Apne'. This was a turning point in his career, because he had played negative characters till then. 'Mere Apne' made him hero material.

And now he has stepped into the world of the small screen. And it is befitting that the name of the serial that he will be seen in is 'Mere Apne', on the new channel, 9X. Truly a coincidence.

The movie was about unemployment and the youth. It also starred Meena Kumari as an elderly lady. The serial is a family drama, with values being the main theme. Vinod's wife in the serial is portrayed by Smriti Irani.

The story is based in Benaras. We wonder if the serial will be a turning point for him, again.
