The couple offered a chadar and flowers at the shrine, also knows as Bade Dargah, and spent some time there. Jaya Bachchan and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh accompanied them.
Since women are not allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum, only Abhishek went inside while Aishwarya offered prayers at the entrance.
Clad in a white kurta payjama and wearing a skull cap, Abhishekh carried flowers on his head to the dargah while Aishwarya, who was wearing a golden colour sari and had covered her head with its border, stood in respect.
Devotees believe that wishes are fulfilled at the dargah of Ameer Peer, a saint who was said to have come from Bidar in Karnataka 400 years ago.
The couple reached Kadpa town by a helicopter from Bangalore. They headed straight to a guesthouse and later arrived at the dargah, where a large number of people gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars.
Police had a tough time in controlling the crowds who jostled and tried to get closer to the actors. The dargah committee members welcomed the stars and explained to them the significance of the place. They later returned to Bangalore.
Amar Singh told newsmen that they got peace and solace at the dargah. "We would like to come here again and again," he said.
Abhishek and Aishwarya had visited the famous Hindu temple at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh a day after their marriage in April this year. The couple has been visiting all major places of worship in the country.
