He has given a different meaning to the word, by executing a play on the words 'saut' and 'ali', leading to 'saut ki saheli'.
The otherwise negative word, used in context to stepmothers and stepfathers, now becomes a positive word with the inclusion of the concept of a saheli, or friend.
Megha Gupta will be seen in the role of this friend. The name of the character is Aanchal. Megha, who was earlier seen in 'Kumkum', and in ' C. I. D. ' as a police officer, says, "I really liked the character of Aanchal, who becomes the shadow of a married woman.
Confusion over a ticket changes her entire life. Aanchal was supposed to go to the USA for a course in fashion design, but she ends up leading the life of a married woman with three kids. "
Megha adds that Aanchal is a typical bubbly girl next door, who sacrifices her happiness for these three kids, aged 10, 6 and 3. There are a very few girls, Megha adds, who are willing to sacrifice their lives and careers for a family life, especially in these times. And that makes Aanchal extraordinary.
Megha considers it a great honour to be working under the Rajshri Banner. "They have been in the industry forever, even before I was born. In fact, Soorajji calls me the 'bahu' of the company," she laughs.
"I do not want to sound clichéd and call this a different kind of serial, but it is true," Megha asserts, adding, "You will see for yourself when it begins. It is not like the usual saas-bahu dramas. "
And does she feel comfortable playing the mother of a 10-year-old?
"The main attraction of this show is the hows and whys of a 22-year-old taking up the responsibility. I am having loads of fun on the sets with the kids, and even our director becomes a kid at times," she signs off. Rajnee Gupta
