Unfortunately her two sons Arin and Ryan are not here. And they won't be attending Mama's Grand Evening later this week when her new film is premiered.
"My husband is flying down for the premiere. But my children aren't coming. For them this long journey from Denver to Mumbai for just a fortnight would've been too tedious.
In fact I had synchronized the shooting of my film with their holidays so they could be with me for the summer. That's why I could work in such a relaxed atmosphere over my new movie."
Madhuri's mother-in-law who lives in LA is currently in Denver too look after the two boys. The doting mom admits she's tense about her children not being with her.
"The younger one is too young to understand. But when I explained to the elder one that Mama will be away for fifteen days he wondered why Mama had go all by herself to India. I'd have liked them to be with me.
But I didn't want them falling sick or getting jetlagged back-and-forth in such a short time. Besides I wouldn't have been able to focus on promoting my film if they were with me."
She brightens up. "They aren't missing anything here. They're too young to understand what premieres are all about, or what this premiere means to their mother.
Of course I'd have liked them to be here with me. But they're far more comofortable back home with my mother-in-law. And I'm sure they'll watch the film soon. Both the boys love the film's trailers. They're singing and dancing with my songs.
At least I've two hardcore fans at home. And of course my husband. Teen ticket to bik chuke hain," her trademark laughter bathes the atmosphere in joie de vivre.
