Strange are the ways of the music world. People think of the most absurd ways of keeping the faith alive. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Jagjit Singh are the most popular singers from India not just in their native country but also in Pakistan. So why should we be surprised if on the eve of President Musharraf`s visit, Universal comes up with the titanic trio trilling not just separately in one album, but also a song together?
Aadesh Shrivastava got the privilege of recording the three singing giants together for a song entitled Tumko bhool na paaye for Chetan Anand`s aborted dream projected on the love of Salim and Anarkali. About a year ago, the songs from that incomplete film were released on an album called Dil Kahin Hosh Kahin.
Now the Jagjit-Lata-Asha duet-plus-one resurfaces in a newly packaged heavily promoted avtaar. The rest of the album contains tracks from earlier albums by the three artistes.
