Yuvika Choudhary is one lucky girl. The former Zee Cine stars ki khoj contestant, seen in various commercials, the Zee serial AstiTVa, a music video with Himesh
Reshammiya and a Telegu film, has recently made it to the Bollywood big league.
She was signed by none other than Farah Khan to star in her Om Shanti Om,
alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Arjun Rampal and the very promising supermodel turned actress Deepika Padukone.
"Farah told me that she had watched me right from the start of Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj and loved me throughout. Then she saw me in the Coke ad with Kunal Kapoor. It was
kind of shocking to get a call from her.
She asked me whether I would like to be in the movies and that she has a role for me. There was no audition", reveals the
perky youngster. She can't contain her excitement. "I was so happy, I can't even explain the feeling. It was such a pleasant surprise", she says.
So how she met producer Shah Rukh and the rest of the cast members? "Yes, I went and met Shah Rukh. It was obviously a heady feeling. I know Deepika from before
because of the modeling connection. I met the rest after the shoot started last month...It was great", reveals Yuvika.
How were the preparations like? "I think I
prepared well. I was very regular with my workouts. But I wasn't doing dance classes", she laughs.
She shies away from talking about the tiffs between her and her
seniors (including Niki Aneja) in AstiTVa, that were widely highlighted. It was even said that she quit AstiTVa because of these issues.
"I would let bygones be
bygones. If they spoke out their mind and thought me to be something, let it be. I didn't want to waste my name in fighting and giving clarifications. I would rather
concentrate on and let my work speak.
If I said then, that I wanted to do films, I was serious. Now everyone knows that I meant what I said", she says candidly.
Undoubtedly the girl is sure of herself. "My parents are very happy but they are not bragging me or something. I want to give my best shot. Even My South films are
postponed because of this project.
I want to do good work in the film. My positive attitude towards life has stood by me and I hope it will do so later too", she signs
off. Indeed it has, and it is likely to achieve more for her in the future. - Sneha Hazarika
