In her own words, "The TV channels have got it all wrong. I was never in the wrong, not in the car and I was certainly not drunk. I returned from an event in Nagpur. I was waiting for my car. My driver met with an accident.
A lady called Inaayat was injured in her foot. When my driver informed me of the accident I insisted on doing the right thing.
I could've easily sped away in the opposite direction and gone home by an autorickshaw. But I sat the injured lady down in my car and took her to the hospital and I spent two hours with her.
I was hugging and comforting her while the doctors were treating her. After that she and her husband thanked me and said I could go home."
To her horror the next morning all the news channels were giving out incorrect information about the accident. "They said I was sitting in car, that I was drunk. What nonsense."
It all seems like an instant-replay version of Saif Ali Khan's incident when his car had rammed into a a chil'd foot. The only big difference is, Nisha/Priyanka wasn't in the car.
"I gave the lady and her husband my number before I left and asked them to call me if they needed anything. Then they made all these false allegations against me.
They said I've promised them money. I really don't know what they're talking about. We didn't discuss any money. I didn't even see the accident because I wasn't in the car when it happened.
If they want to take action against my driver I won't stand in the way. The only way I'm concerned with this matter is because it was my car and my driver.
I've asked my driver to follow it up in the police station. And to think that I could have easily just walked away from the situation. Does it mean one shouldn't try to help anyone?" the actress is distressed.
Otherwise too the year has been unkind. Priyanka's performance in Ram Gopal Varma's Aag was panned.
"That's okay. I've so many offers. But I don't want to be working just because I have to. It makes no sense just to do five films because I need to be busy.
Next week on 11 January I've a Telugu release Okamgaru with Balkrishnan. I play a documentary filmmaker. In Shiva I played a journalist. So I'm living out different professions.
Otherwise I'm learning different dance forms and doing live stage shows. I like to spend time with my family. I may have made wrong decisions. But I had no one to guide me. I think I'm growing every day. The world is as beautiful as you want it to be."
