Koena was at first reluctant to talk about the incident. "Let it be. I'd rather leave it behind me"
When told that the details of her harrowing experience were already out she finally spoke up.
"I had the most traumatic experience. I was physically attacked by this tall 6 -footer. It started with him following me around at the show. Right from the start I could see his eyes trailing me everywhere. I thought, chalo fan hai.
It's ok. Some time later before the show he came up to me and asked for a photograph. I sportingly agreed. Then he asked, 'Could I hold you for the pic?' I told him to take a hike and the security guys whisked him off."
Koena thought that was end of her ordeal. Little did she know what was in store for her.
"After the show all of us Bipasha, Tanushree and I proceeded to the VVIP lounge to relax and let our hair down. How was I to know the stalker would show up there!
When I saw him I froze. But he very sweetly asked to shake my hand. Thinking that he'd leave me alone after that, I agreed. When he shook my hand he crushed it so hard I was sick with pain.
The look of horror must've showed up in my eyes because the security guys came running and pushed him way."
This where the real horror in Koena's story started. "Before anyone knew what was happening this demented man pounced on me and grabbed my belly and waist around my naval.
I was so repulsed and shocked I just hit out at him. The man was so tall my blows landed on his shoulders. By now everyone in the room freaked out. Tanushree and the others were screaming loudly."
That such a horrific act of manhandling could happen inside a 5-star hotel scares the hell out of Koena. "With all the security around us and the VVIP treatment, how secure are we so-called celebrities?
The cops had instructed us to wear decent clothes with the threat of punishment if we broke the dress code for our performances at the New Years eve celebrations.
Excuse me, we know how to take care of such things. Instead of keeping an eye on us shouldn't the cops have looked out for those poor women outside on the streets who fell prey to unwanted attention?"
Koena still quakes at the incident. "I was so scared after the incident I refused to go for a party with my friends after the show. I went to Mount Mary church and headed straight home.
I haven't told my mother about the incident. She freaked out when she saw reports of what happened outside the Marriott. If she heard what happened to me she'd ask me to leave Mumbai and return to Kolkata."
Koena feels the intruder could strike again. "He kept shouting that he has dozens of my pictures on his phone. I saw the look in his eyes. It wasn't the look of a decent man," ends Koena who celebrates her birthday on 7 Jan.
"I'm going to be very careful about where I go and how I celebrate my birthday."
