The Indian Army along with the Lions Club of SOL hosted a musical charity evening to celebrate Vijay Diwas at the Mulla Auditorium, Navy Nagar, Colaba.
The gala event was held to pay tribute to the soldiers
of war and salute their victories whilst safeguarding the interest of the nation. Celebrating this joyous occasion were chief guest Major Gen. R.K. Hooda (GOC. MG & G Area), dynamic industrialist, Ms. Parmeshwar
Godrej and Bollywood's leading lady, Ms. Priyanka Chopra.
Commemorated on this day every year, Vijay Diwas marks the occasion of the spectacular victory of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
On this day the Indian forces led by Army
Commander Lt. Gen. J.S. Arora achieved victory, which led to the surrender of over ninety thousand Pakistani soldiers and the liberation of Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Lt. Col. Ashok Chopra, Vice President, Lions Club of SOL said, "Vijay Diwas is a glorious day for every Indian.
It's a day when we remember the supreme sacrifices that our
soldiers have made to protect our tomorrow... And what better way to pay tribute to them and their families than by hosting a charity musical celebration!"
The show was also organized in aid of home for the aged pioneered by Lions Club of SOL. Leading musicians accompanied Dr. Ashok Chopra and Mr. Pawan Chopra to render souls stirring musicals through the
evening.
