'American Idol' star Sanjaya Malakar and his sister demanded to be paid when photographers took pictures of them.

Tmz.com reports that Sanjaya, the Indian American contestant who was voted out, and his sister Shyamali were spending the weekend at the Hanes Style Villa in Arizona.

They went shopping for thousands of dollars worth of jewellery and spa treatments. Sanjaya then asked a photographer to give him $20 for taking his picture.

His sister Shyamali then joined her brother in making demands by telling the photographer, 'We're not taking a picture unless we know what we're getting.'
