The authorities today issued a show-cause notice to Dilnashin Ahmed, alias Manyata, directing her to explain why the controversial residential certificate, she had produced during her marriage with Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt on February 7 at the registration office in Margao, should not be cancelled forthwith.

Salcete Mamlatdar Paresh Fhaldesai said that the notice was sent to the Margao address of Manyata seeking her reply by tomorrow, even as her marriage registration was kept on hold and the talati (village officer), who issued the controversial certificate without verification, was suspended.

If the certificate is proved to be fake, the marriage will be treated as null and void, besides attracting criminal action against the duo.

The issue triggered with the husband of Manyata stating that the marriage with Dutt was illegal as she continued to be the former's wife with no divorce given to her.
